Welcome to Hopkins Dining Parlour
For more than four decades, families have climbed the front steps of the grand old house at 65 Athabasca Street West to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, graduations and quiet Tuesday suppers. Built in 1905 by pioneer community leader Edward Nicholas Hopkins and lovingly restored as a restaurant in 1979 by Wayne & Gladys Pierce and their son Rick, the Parlour serves casual fine dining. Hand-carved prime rib, chargrilled Saskatchewan steaks, several seafood options and accommodates special dietary needs. Seating areas in the 5,000 square foot house spans over 4 tiers of Victorian style rooms filled with antiques gathered from across North America and Europe.
White-tablecloth care without the stiffness. Children are welcomed with their own kids menu — because this has always been a family house.
Dine beneath original stained glass beside the old fireplace, up the rebuilt spiral staircase, or in the Top of the Parlour room added in 1985. Every room has a story — and one resident, Minnie, never left.
Slow-roasted daily and carved to order, served with a starter salad, choice of potato, and seasonal steamed vegetables.
Heritage
The Hopkins Residence is one of Moose Jaw's finest examples of Classical Revival architecture — a two-and-a-half storey brick home with double-storey bay windows, dormers and a wood-dentil cornice, formally designated a Municipal Heritage Property in 1996. Edward Hopkins — first secretary of the Moose Jaw Board of Trade, president of the Saskatchewan Grain Growers' Association, and Member of Parliament — built it for his wife Minnie and their three children.
Step Inside
Passing through a beautiful, glass-panelled wooden door transports you to a dining experience that escapes the ordinary. Surrounded by history and antiques — some dating back to the 17th century — dine in elegance at Hopkins Dining Parlour. Numerous corners and candlelight are perfect for a warm and intimate meeting for two, and larger groups are welcome and appreciated in the timelessly elegant Top of the Parlour.
The Leather-Bound Menu
Opening the leather-bound menu reveals a wealth of Canadian cuisine with a hint of European influence. Stimulate your appetite with the classically British Prime Rib Yorkies, Baked Lobster with Cheese, and Hopkins' signature chicken wings — then indulge in succulent seafood, savoury pastas, and the highly acclaimed AAA Prime Rib.
Our wines are carefully curated — currently all-Canadian — and the cocktails and mocktails evolve with the seasons.

Local musicians fill the old house — and the patio on summer evenings — every Saturday night.
Private & Group Dining
Climb to the very top of the house and the room opens up — arched windows, chandeliers and long tables beneath the old rafters. Added in 1985, the Top of the Parlour is Hopkins' timelessly elegant setting for larger gatherings: birthdays and anniversaries, rehearsal dinners, staff parties and celebrations of every kind.
Larger groups are welcome and appreciated — the house seats 250, and groups over 15 dine from our group menus. Call (306) 692-5995 to reserve the room.
